Mexican Delegates Scrutinize NLID

To learn more about our country's national tagging program and tracking capabilities, three high-level Mexican delegates recently visited Holstein Canada .
MV Z José Luis Gallardo Nieto, Co-ordinator General with the Ministry of Agriculture ; Juan R. Barrio from the beef sector; and Cuauhtemoc Rebolledo-Gomez of the Embassy of Mexico in Canada were very impressed with the advanced stage of Canada's NLID program (National Livestock IDentification).
Seeking positive assurance of high animal health standards, they endorsed our science-based system. Hopefully, this will have a positive influence on the importation of Canadian dairy genetics into Mexico .
At the same time, they learned about further developing a quality system in Mexico . Holstein Canada 's Registrar Glenn Cherry provided current program details, as the Association remains a leader and resource in advancing dairy identification and promoting traceability.
The gentlemen had previously attended the ID Info Expo 2004 in Chicago and the Intergovernmental Group on Meat and Dairy Products in Winnipeg .
