Dairy Meets ISO Standards
Allflex, which manufactures NLID, CCIA, and ATQ tags, adheres to International Standards Organization requirements for electronic identification. There are two basic standards issued by the ISO regarding RFID. They are 1) Radio Frequency ID of animals, Code Structure (ISO Standard 11784)—specifies the RFID code for use with animals, and 2) Radio Frequency of Animals, Technical Concept (ISO Standard 11785)—deals with how a transponder is activated and how the information stored in the transponder is transferred to a transceiver.
ISO-compliant technologies in the dairy parlour are beginning to reach the marketplace in the form of Integrated Management Systems through numerous equipment manufacturers, management integrators, software firms, and other livestock management, and/or animal health companies. Before investing in an electronic management system, be sure to ask about ISO standards compliance.
